Macromedia Flash (SWF) Deployment Kit Behavior for Macromedia Dreamweaver Help
The Macromedia Flash (SWF) Deployment Kit contains a Macromedia Dreamweaver Behavior that will make the process of setting up a deployment system easier to use. To use the Macromedia Dreamweaver Behavior you must install it via Macromedia Extension Manager.
Important Note:The
Macromedia Dreamweaver Behavior will place two files into the same directory
as the page that contains your Behavior. These files are called Dispatcher.js
& detectFlash.swf. These files are required and must be uploaded to your
server along with your HTML files.
Behavior Description
The Macromedia Dreamweaver
Behavior is normally applied to a web page that appears before any Flash content
is displayed on your site. Usually this is the index page or one of the first
pages in a site. The code applied by the Behavior will redirect the user to
the appropriate page, based on decisions specified here in the Behavior. The
action is such that the user will not see the page before they are redirected.
Therefore, there is no need for graphics or text on this page.
Macromedia Flash Content
URL - This is the URL of the web page that will contain your Macromedia
Flash content.
Alternate URL - This is the URL for alternate non-Macromedia Flash or
older version Macromedia Flash content . This is the page the user will be directed
to if you choose "Load Alternate URL" and the user does not have the
appropriate Macromedia Flash Player installed. This page can also be a customized
page that requests the user to upgrade Macromedia Flash.
Macromedia Flash Version - This is the version of Macromedia Flash that
is required to play your Macromedia Flash content located in the field specified
in Macromedia Flash Content URL.
Require Latest Plug-in - Check this box if you want to play your content
only with the very latest released player. This requests the user to have the
latest updated release of the Macromedia Flash Player.
Don't use auto-update - Check this box if you don't want to auto-update
the Macromedia Flash Player even if it is possible. This usually applies to
Microsoft Internet Explorer. Normally when the deployment kit detects that the
user is using Microsoft Internet Explorer, the dispatcher redirects the user
to your Macromedia Flash content, even if the user does not have the correct
version of Macromedia Flash. Then
auto-update begins and attempts to install the latest version of Macromedia
Flash. Selecting this checkbox allows you to go to an alternate or update page
instead.
If the Macromedia
Flash Player is not installed and auto-installation is not possible, then:
Install Macromedia Flash Player
- In the rare case that Macromedia Flash is not installed or undetectable,
this redirects the user to the Macromedia Flash Download page.
Installation URL- This is the URL of the Macromedia Flash Download page.
This URL can also point to a customized page that requests the user to upgrade
Macromedia Flash.
Load Alternate URL- If Macromedia Flash is not installed or undetectable,
this redirects the user to the Alternate URL specified near the top of the page.
If the Macromedia Flash
Player version is unacceptable and auto-installation is not possible, then:
Install Macromedia Flash Player
- In the case that the user's Macromedia Flash version is older than the
content, this redirects the user to the Macromedia Flash Download page.
Installation URL- This is the URL of the Macromedia Flash Download page.
This URL can also point to a customized page that requests the user to upgrade
Macromedia Flash.
Load Alternate URL- In the case that the user's Macromedia Flash version
is older than the content, this redirects the user to the Alternate URL specified
near the top of the page.
Deploying the Dispatcher
The action to detect Flash will occur when you load the HTML
page that contains the Behavior.
The Macromedia
Dreamweaver Behavior will place two files into the same directory as the page
that contains your Behavior. These files are called Dispatcher.js & detectFlash.swf.
These files are required and must be uploaded to your server along with your
HTML files.
