Virtual Desktop/End User Computing

ViSX solves key VDI cost and performance obstacles

Virtual Desktop infrastructure, or VDI, is the popular process of running a users desktop inside a virtual machine residing in a datacenter server. At Media Supply we use a VDI interface for our order management and accounting applications. VDI is a useful and powerful type of desktop virtualization because it delivers fully personalized desktops for each system user, with maintenance, security and management centralized. Two barriers to VDI installation are cost and performance. IT professionals need to provide performance for end-users at costs that are significantly lower than installing individual desktops and localized servers.

The ViSX VDI Solution

Virtual Desktops have performance characteristics which legacy hard disk storage environments were not designed to support. Astute’s ViSX for VDI provides predictable and consistent performance at a the storage industry’s lowest price per user. ViSX for VDI is designed for random-write intensive virtual environments. Using the most recent advances in solid state flash storage, ViSX for VDI does the job without bottlenecks found in traditional spinning hard-disk and hard-disk/flash hybrid solutions.

ViSX VDI solutions deliver despite heavy boot-up storms and login storms. ViSX appliances support 100 to over 1500 users per device at a super-low cost per user. Multiple ViSX devices can be clustered together to support VDI integrations with more than 10,000 users.
